After learning about these blessed events here on Oppo, my buddy and I woke up at the crack of dawn, poured our liquified bodies into his Acura RL 3.5, and headed out to the event that has rendered the Washington Auto Show pointless.
We arrived "late" for the event - about 8am. At this point, some of the lots had already begun emptying again and we were easily able to find a spot. In fact, we got to park between a Ferrari 550 Maranello and a Ferrari 360 Modena. So, you know, we fit right in.
My God, the cars. I felt like a wankel rotor revved too fast and flung out of the cycle of suffering and into nirvana. Rows upon rows of Italian exotica, from Maranello and from Sant'Agata, old and new alike. 308's. 456's. F40's. Gallardos. Aventadors. My heart.
Every bad ass bit of American muscle under the sun showed up. Old Rally Sport Camaros, GT 350 Mustangs, GTO's, Cobra replicas. New American brawn, too, from myriad Z06 Corvettes, new C7 Stingrays, and a pair of matching Shelby GT 500 ponies.
Old British roadsters were well represented by their salt-and-pepper aficionados, as well.
What was my take away from it all? If you want to get up close and personal with the cars you post to this website, with the cars you drool over and dream of, visit your local Cars & Coffee - especially if it's Katie's in Great Falls. Go patronize a local business, go experience the goodwill of garage queens and track stars being shared with their adoring public, and go contribute to a modern day car culture here in the States.
Pomme-de-terrible pictures below!
Jags were represented well, both with this heart-stopping F-Type, and this bevy of beautiful E-Types.
This black Gallardo was much prettier in person than I ever thought this model could be.
There were Ferrari's everywhere - a fact about which I am never going to complain. Tons of 550's and 360's, and even this bombshell F40.
There were infinite Porsche's from different eras, but I loved this 911 Cabriolet Turbo.
Speaking of different eras, my favorite old American was this '63 Split-Window Corvette in gold, those this MG was popular, too.
If you stick an 'A' in front of MG, you'll have the meanest looking car at the show.
Several Lotus Elise's made it to the show, as well as an Evora. That's my buddy checking out the Ferrari 360's naughty bits.
Driving an A4 myself, this ass made me melt.
There were some quirky rarities as well, including the fabled Fisker Karma, a Noble, a 1954 Kaiser with sliding doors, and a Defender....Thing.
And to finish, a little engine porn from a Hennessey Viper V10.
So get out there and go see these cars for yourself - I did!

Looks like fun, just one minor correction, your buddy is checking out a f430, not a 360. Sorry, it's my favorite cheap Ferrari and I had to correct you.

Headlights, engine cover, bumpers, everything including the general shape of the car. The headlights are narrower in a f430. That and I'm overly anal about ferrari's, but the easiest way to tell is the difference in rear ends.

I have no idea! It had a logo I'd never seen - a prancing bull. Prancing like Ferrari's horse, but distinctly a bull.

Edit: A quick google search returns "Intermeccanica"

The grille shape and headlights are the easiest for me...grille is angled on the 360, rounded on the F430. Easiest to tell from the back, the F430 has the Enzo-style tail lights.

Ah yes, I remember now. The Intermeccanica Italia. A bit of a hybrid I recall. It's got a Ford 351 and was built in Italy. Looks good in black and wire wheels.

Cobra replicas
That wasn't a replica mate, it was the real thing. Signed by Mr. Shelby himself.

I'm pretty sure it's a lambo.
Because it is a lambo.
What lambo, I have no idea.

It's an Intermeccanica coach built Lamborghini, hence the prancing bull.

Wait, I'm wrong again. the prancing bull is the Intermeccanica logo.

I actually thought it was a Lambo.
